edwin hi, if you want to change from r12 to r134a, first you'll need to change the dryer and expansion valve, then take out all the oil from the compressor, flush it with solvent, and put new PGA oil, must be for r134, check manufacturer for the type of oil, also you will need to flush the system, r12 and r134a are not compatible. you car should have a label that tells you what king of refrigerant is charged with. good luck and any question or doubt feel free to ask.
robert lacy what do i need to do to switch from freon to the new coolant? how do i check if my vehicle is equipped with the new system? it's a 1990 mazda mpv 3.0 awd.
