If your older car already has classic auto air conditioning, it's probably not in the best shape. For starters, it most likely uses freon as a refrigerant. This refrigerant is no longer used, so you'd be better off upgrading to an A/C system that operates on a more modern refrigerant.
Perhaps you've already changed your A/C system so it doesn't run on freon, but you think there are more improvements you could make. If this is the case, you'll want to look at the individual components of your A/C system, such as the auto air conditioning compressor. Make sure the parts are still in good working condition.
One component you'll probably want to replace is the receiver-drier, since this piece is made to be replaced periodically. For proper upkeep, you should really replace this item every three years or so. It's also wise to replace the receiver-drier when you replace any other part of the A/C system, to avoid any troubles.
